Edward Groth III earned an A.B. in biology from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from Stanford University. His specialty is science and public policy, and from 1979 to 2004 he directed work on environmental health and food safety issues at Consumers Union of United States, the publisher of Consumer Reports magazine.
