Selection Versus Influence Revisited: New Method and Conclusions
York H. Dobyns, Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research, C-131 Engineering
Quadrangle, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ 08544-5263
A previous paper by the author (Dobyns, 1993) on this topic mistakenly
fails to account for nonindependence in certain test measures, leading
to exaggerated conclusions. An analysis that avoids this problem produces
weaker statistical evidence, although the qualitative conclusions of
the earlier analysis are sustained.
