The Critical Role of Analytical Science in the Study of Anomalies

Michael S. Epstein, National Capital Area Skeptics, 8006 Valley Street, Silver Spring, MD 20910

Controversy surrounding the validity of anomalous events can often be resolved by the proper use of analytical science. Similarly, improper use of analytical science can lead to the appearance of anomalies when none exist. This paper examines these issues, points out errors that have been made in previous investigations of anomalies, and makes recommendations for the correct use of analytical science in anomalies research.
