Annual Society Meetings are held every spring. The first SSE meeting took place at the University of Maryland in 1982. Meetings are generally three days long and consist of invited lectures, contributed talks and poster sessions selected by a program committee. European meetings are also scheduled periodically. Past meetings have included:
