The Society for Scientific Exploration (SSE) is pleased to announce the selection of James (Jim) Houran as the next Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Scientific Exploration, the SSE’s peer-reviewed, open access publication. Jim succeeds Stephen Braude, who has served as the JSE EiC for 13 years. We are grateful to Steve for his service and wish him well in retirement.

Jim received his PhD in Medicine with a Psychology focus from Adelaide University in 2004. He is currently Director of Research at Integrated Knowledge Systems, Inc. and a Research Professor in the Laboratory for Statistics and Computation, Instituto Politécnico de Gestão eTecnologia. He has published extensively in both mainstream psychology and a variety of anomalous areas and has served on the editorial boards of several journals.

Jim brings enthusiasm for research across many topics of interest to SSE members. He plans to emphasize the cross-disciplinary nature of these topics and will encourage authors to address the implications of their work to the broader field of anomalistic research to keep JSE at the forefront of edge science. He will be expanding the pool of Associate Editors and reviewers and soliciting ideas and articles for a number of special issue topics.

Jim will assume his duties starting with Volume 36, Issue 1 in the Spring of 2022. He believes the success of JSE depends upon the efforts of all members of SSE and encourages everyone to consider submitting articles or volunteering to serve as reviewers or Associate Editors. Please join us in welcoming Jim.
