Ultimate Purpose, Meaning And Destiny

If there is a common theme within religions and associated philosophies, it’s one of trying to position oneself in the broad context of life, the universe and everything as something special. You have somehow been tapped on the shoulder with a special and unique mission or destiny, or a special purpose or meaning that you have to carry during the time of your existence, something that places you uniquely above the rest of life, the universe and everything. Hogwash!

The Multiverse Right Here At Home

Fact: You exist, or at least your mind exists (and at one time it didn't exist and at some future time it won't exist - perhaps both best qualified by "probably didn't" and 'probably won't"). You cannot know anything, apart from what's in your own mind, even to the point that there is anything that is beyond your own mind. And what is beyond your own mind, that is what has independent reality (i.e. - the minds and what is in the minds of others) is forever beyond your grasp in the same sort of way that we in this Universe cannot know about the Multiverse.

Further Thoughts On The Issue Of Cosmic Fine-Tuning

There's quite a difference between the question is the cosmos fine-tuned allowing things to have existence and is the cosmos fine-tuned with the purpose of allowing things to have existence. In other words, one needs to distinguish between fine-tuning that allows for the existence of just any old something rather than nothing* versus the existence of a specific something.

Immortality: Who Wants To Live Forever?

“Nothing is certain but death and taxes”, so the saying goes, and while much has been written about taxes, death, or the lack of death, the latter is my topic under consideration. The question I pose is, can technology deliver on what religion promises, but probably can’t deliver on - that is to say, the promise of life eternal.

Humans Have The Intelligence; Animals Have The Smarts

There’s no question that of all species on Planet Earth, modern humans, Homo sapiens, are top of the pops when it comes to intelligence (IQ). All other species, however close they might be in evolutionary terms to modern humans, pale in comparison. BUT, and there’s always a BUT, animals are way smarter, which raises questions about our actual relationship to them. Here I give numerous examples where animals are top of the pops when it comes to pure smarts.

Humans Enslaved

Humans can be enslaved in all manner of ways. By force by others is the usual image, but there is conscription and of course the bowing and scraping that’s part and parcel of being a law-abiding citizen. You probably feel a slave at work, but at least its voluntary and you do get paid for it. What I’m on about here is self-enslavement and how you willingly dance to the many tunes of the numerous pied pipers.

The Holographic Universe And You

If the Universe is actually a hologram (a 3-D image residing on a 2-D surface), and we’re part of the Universe, then we too are but part of a holographic 3-D image on a 2-D surface! If you are a 3-D hologram, then your brain too is a hologram. Perhaps some of the properties of holograms might be relevant in explaining some of the neurological mysteries of that wetware brain thingy of yours – like memory. You might think it intuitive that a volume could contain more bits of information than the area that surrounds that volume.

The ‘Greys’: They’re Coming To Get You Barbara!

An apparent phenomena associated with UFOs is collectively known as alien abductions where humans are kidnapped briefly for seemingly experimental medical research purposes oriented around human genetics and reproduction. Implants are often alleged so that the aliens can keep tabs on previous victims in order to do follow-up abductions. These aliens are commonly and collectively known as the ‘Greys’ even though there are often more than one body type reported. So, have you been abducted by the ‘Greys’ and if so, to what end?

The Nature Of Gravity

Gravity – we all feel it; it limits much that we can do or build; and we don’t understand it!

Say you drop something and it falls, as you’d expect, vertically to the ground. A routine happening! You can easily explain what happened (and where and when), but can you explain how it happened, or why that something fell vertically down and not in some other direction? You probably can not.

Fundamental Stuff And Their Properties

What Are The Fundamentals Composed Of? You aren't a fundamental anything since you are composed of lots and lots and lots (add lots more lots) of things with structure and substance that are in themselves not fundamental. Fundamental means here that that's the end of the line. For example, electrons and quarks. You can't break down electrons and quarks (and some other things too) into anything simpler. So, what are the fundamentals and what are they composed of?
